The cats are been judged separated of race, color and sex.

The cats start of the age of 10 months to obtain the titles. Before they will be judged in the classes 3-6 months and 6-10 months. They don't get the certificates to obtain titles.

Extra awards Claims
BIV = Best in Variety

DVM

The judges are choosing from a breed their most beautiful cat, for this purpose they need at least 3 cats (they didn't separate anymore between the sex). When the judge got e.g. 3 adult cats and 3 kittens (age of 3-10 months), he is choosing a Best of Variety adult and a Best of Variety kitten. When he got only 2 kittens and 3 adults or reverse, he is choosing just one winner as he is comparing the adult cats with the kittens. In that case we are talking often of a BIV-Total.

It's the same with the neutered cats, but the judges don't never compare them with the potent cats or the kittens for the Best in Variety.

Recent exists now the title DVM, to obtain it there exist the following rules: the cat needs for this title minimum 10x BIV. The shortest period between the first and the last BIV
is two years and one day. With it they avoid that a cat got too fast this title DVM.

NOM for BEST IN SHOW

Each judge can nominate the following cats in each judged category:

– 1 Adult male

– 1 Adult female

– 1 Adult Neutered male

– 1 Adult Neutered female

– 1 young cat in the class 6-10 months (not separated by sex)

– 1 Kitten 3-6 months (not separated by sex)

The cat needs minimum 97 points of the standard to have the right to be nominated.

BIS
DSW

Each nominated cat will be verified by each member of the Best in Show judge council. This is a public verification. They are choosing after their most beautiful cat of each category and above-named sub-categories. A Best in Show is split in four categories, if house cats are presented, in five categories.

Category I = Persians and Exotic Cats

Category II = Semi longhair-cats (Norwegian Forest Cat, Maine Coon, Holy Birme, etc)

Category III = Shorthair-cats (Abyssinians, Somalis, British shorthair-cats, etc)

Category IV = Siam- and oriental cats (Siamese, oriental shorthair-cats)

Category  V = Housecats

In this categories the judges are choosing the most beautiful kitten, young cat, adult male, neutered female, etc. and the winner obtain the title BIS = BEST IN SHOW

When the cat win minimum 10x the Best in Show in the adult classes, he got the title DSW. Between the first and the last BIS have to be a period of two years and one day to avoid, that the cat got the title too fast.

JW For this title the kitten respectively the young cat has to win minimum 5x Best in Show in the kitten- and/or young class

WW/YY
SW/YY
Each year a Worldshow proceed and the cat, who win the Best in Show (split in the same categories and sub-categories like at the "normal" show"), obtain the title WW (=Worldwinner) added the year of this victory.

In Scandinavia they got their own Worldshow, they called it Scandinavian Winnershow like it's very complicity and costly for the breeders there, to participate at shows here in Europe because of very severe veterinary directions. The winners will be selected in the same way like at the Worldshow or at our "normal" shows. The winner obtain the title SW (=Scandinavian Winner), added with the year of this victory.

DM This title has only indirect to do something with the shows of the cat who carry this title. Important are the title of the offspring of this cat. If a male got 10 offspring with the title Int. Champion or Int. Premior or higher, this male got the right to carry the title DM. A female needs 5 offspring with the titles Int. Champion or Int. Premior or higher

So, I hope, I could explain you a little bit this complicated sounding ranking-system of the FIFé. In practice it's so much easier that it's sounding in the theory :-)!
